I believe that each one of the surahs in the Quran focuses more on a specific topic, otherwise it might be repetitive to read the same thing over in every surah. But sometimes it feels like many surahs are mentioning very similar things or bringing up similar stories. If not thinking about a surah as a whole, then it might be difficult to understand what the surah emphasizes.

Am I misinterpreting?

Some surahs are easy to follow and understand the story, for instance surah Yusuf. It is easy to follow because it is written in a chronological order. But for some other ayahs, it is not as obvious as in surah Yusuf. Hence, I had such interpretations in first paragraph.

In fact, the holy Quran emphasizes and sometimes repeats the same topics, subjects and stories due to importance of the message that lies in those things or sometimes Quran tells a story but means the same characters found in all eras like Moses and pharaoh. There are some books written or compiled especially in Persian that which topic or topics the each surah emphasizes on or discusses. Yes, you are absolutely right that we should look at every Surah as a whole to understand what the surah emphasizes most. In some Surah there is a story so it's verses are put in chronological order like Surah Yusuf but overall the place of verses in Quran is "tauqeefi" (meaning the verses were put in the suras as per order of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) to his companions according to the guidance of Gabriel) therefore the sequence of the verses is not the same as revealed on Holy Prophet (PBUH) so it may felt sometimes when reciting and reading the meaning of a Surah that the sequence is broken.

I'm currently reading surah Alankabut and was wondering why the word spider (ankabout) is only mentioned in ayah 41 -why only in one ayah and why its' number is 41? Besides that a persons' faith without Allah in mind can be as weak as a spiders' home, what is the meaning behind comparing those that do not worship Allah with a spider and its' home? I guess this is discussed in ayah 41.

Also what is the connections between the ankabut (a spider) and all people mentioned in the surah? We read about both good people and bad people such as Farao, Haman, Kharoun, which are mentioned in one ayah. The surah mention the people of the prophet Abraham and exemplifies how Loot chooses to worship Allah and what happened to his people of that town/place. We also read about two brothers which I forgot the name of.

This is really great to know that you are contemplating about the verses of Holy Quran as Quran emphasizes itself.

Now I come to your question because it has a few questions in it. First of all, I should say that we don't know the exact reason of mentioning the word "Spider" only in one verse of the Surah and same is the reason for mentioning it in verse number 41. We can mention probable answers here but those will not be the accurate and exact answers therefore we should leave it on Allah, He knows that exact reason. But let me mention here one point that the Quran is not a book of History, zoology, biology, physics, chemistry etc. Rather it's a book of guidance so it uses all these things as much as needed for human guidance. So Quran mentions many things as an example only from the viewpoint of guidance. Another thing is that the verses of Quran are "tauqeefi" meaning the verses were put in the suras as per order of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) to his companions according to the guidance of Gabriel. This is the view of almost Muslim Scholars and Quranic researchers. So the question that why it is mentioned only in verse number 41 not in 40 or 42, It may go to the order of Holy Prophet (PBUH).
Now the second Question is about the reason behind comparison of the faith of a non-believer to the web of spider. In fact Allah (SWT) has given this example about the faith of non-believers and polythiests of Mecca because they were worshipping idols so Allah says that these idols worshipped by you are so weak just like the web of a spider because it can do nothing for you and you are treating them as your guardians and sheltering in this type of home although you should know that the weakest home is the web of a spider.
The names of suras are also "Tauqeefi" means decided and selected by Holy Prophet (PBUH) and the logic in the naming was sometimes mentioning those word in the surah or a story about that thing like "Baqarah" means cow which is taken from the story of a Cow in "Bani Israel". So it may be discussed many things or persons in a surah but the name is given on an important word used in the surah or a story mentioned in that or according to the central idea of that Surah.
I hope that I could get your questions correctly and give the answers accordingly. May Allah give you more taufeeq to recite the Holy Quran and think about its verses.

Ibrahim ashtar had joined hands with zubayris. Why did he give his bayat (allegiance)?

According to history, after martyrdom of Mukhtar e saqafi, Ibrahim recieved two different letters from mus'ab bin zubair (The Ruler of Iraq) and Abdul malik bin marwan (The Ruler of Sham). He was offered from both side to join them and promised to get the ruling over a specific region. Ibrahim took the suggestion of his nearest and reliable persons. Their opinions were differing from each other. Some were suggesting to join Mus'ab and the others were suggesting to join Abdul Malik. Finally Ibrahin took decision by his own mind and heart. Actually he was much more inclined with Iraq because Hhe had grown up there and wanted to rule over there. Apart from it he had fought with Sham Army in a very important war named in history "War of the Khariz river" he defeated the Sham Army in commander ship of Ubaildullah ibn Ziyad and finally got victory over them in that significant war so he had killed a lot of sham soldiers therefore they had a grudge against him and they may harm him in the future so ultimately in that situation he decided to go with the sons of zubair because he had to join at least one of them to protect himself, his friends and family and there was no option to be neutral for a personality like him in that situation after fighting with enemies in many wars specially with Mukhtar and having a position of the Governer of Musal (Iraq).

Facing very serious problem but not finding a solution. My anger is the only hurdle between me and my Allah. Whenever I feel anger I feel like I'm away from Allah. I want to feel him all the time. I try to stay cool but at working place whenever people do wrong or try their tactics to lower my position my anger comes out. How I can control my anger?

First of all you should change your position and body posture whenever you get angry that means just sit down if you are standing, or lie down if you are sitting etc. Drink a little amount of water, try to contemplate the consequences of the anger and think about future that what will be happen after a few minutes if I get angry now. Also recite the following supplication as much as possible especially after prayers to get power from Allah to control your wrath.

Can people who gave ghusl e mayyit to a body by hand give kafan to the same body without taking ghusl masse mayyit? Years back our Islamic reacer had taught us that first ghusl e masse mayyat has to be done. Thats why sometimes the ghusl team would go for ghusl while the other team would do kafan.

Yes they can because their hands become tahir (externally tahir) just after completion of third ghusl of mayyit. So giving the kafan to the same dead body has no problem.

Ruling 211. The plank or stone on which a corpse is given ghusl, and the cloth with which the private parts of a corpse are covered, and the hands of the person who gives ghusl – all of these things that are washed with the corpse become pure once the ghusl is complete.

https://www.sistani.org/english/book/48/2146/

In fact there are two types of najasah, one is external and the other is internal which is called in Islamic Term (Najasat-e-Zahiri and Najasat-e-batini) so when a person touches a dead body with his hands after being cold, his hands become externally najis as dead body is one of the najasaat but a ghusl also becomes obligatory on him due to internal najasah which is called "ghusl e mass e mayyit" just like that if ghusl e janabat is wajib upon someone he is internally impure so he can't offer namaz etc. But his hands and body are tahir except in the case that his body or hands became najis by another najasah like blood etc.
Therefore if the same team is doing kafan who have done ghusl e mayyit, before taking ghusle masse mayyit, I don't see any problem in that according to Islamic rulings. If we say that it's better to have two teams one for ghusl and other for kafan, this recommendation should also be proved by Islamic laws and authorities.

What is the ruling for Salat Jamat for women . I know that it has many benefits and has more sawab for men but is it the same for women also? Because I have heard that for women it is mustahab to pray at home

Basically there are three kinds of Islamic traditions (Riwayat) about the topic.
First: The Mosque of a woman is her home and it is better to stay at home for herself and offer Namaz and if she does so, she will be rewarded just like the men offering their Namaz in Mosque with jama'at.
Second: It is allowed or better to go to mosque for women.
Third: Motivation and recommendation for going to mosque for men and women both.

Due to the variety of traditions, the fatwas of Maraje also differ in this regard so in summary we can say that it is better to go to mosque for a woman but with a few conditions:
1. She shouldn't go alone, she should go with other ladies or her Maharim
2. She should wear complete Islamic Hijab.
3. She shouldn't stay between home and mosque
4. She shouldn't use make up and perfume
5. It shouldn't be any mix gathering in the mosque
6. She shouldn't talk with a high tone and volume and should avoid useless conversation in the mosque.

These conditions have been put just because Islam wants to ensure the protection of Hijab and Chastity of women.

Why do we keep mohr while prostrating. Wont it be considered as shirk since we are prasing God and keeping karbala's sand.
Is there any hadees which support this And how people used to pray before the waqeah of Karbala.

First of all, we should know the meaning and definition of shirk and then check that is it applied on prostration on karbala's sand. No shia worships the sand of karbala or the holy shrine of Imam Husain a.s. as it has proclaimed by the enemies. That is a white lie. Actually prostration on the sand of karbala is totally different to worship the sand or the holy Shrine of Karbala. Reverence is a different thing from worship, that is obvious for every one who has a common sense. In fact According to the Shi'ah Ja'fari fiqh - which is one of the five main schools of law in Islam - prostration must be performed on pure earth or what grows on it, provided that it is not eaten or worn. This includes dust, stone, sand and grass, provided that it is not a mineral. Prostration on paper is permitted, because it is made of a material which grows on earth, but not cloth or carpets.
The legal scholars of all the Sunni schools of law concur regarding the validity of prostration on earth and that which grows on it.
• Narrated Abu Sa'id al-Khudri: I saw Allah's Apostle prostrating in mud and water and saw the mark of mud on his forehead.

[Al-Bukhari, Sahih (English translation), vol. 1, book 12, no. 798; vol. 3, book 33, no. 244]

The Prophet (s) also used to have a Khumra on which he would put his forehead for prostration.

• Narrated Maymuna: Allah's Apostle used to pray on a Khumra.

[Al-Bukhari, Sahih (English translation), vol. 1, book 8, no. 378]
• According to al-Shawkani, a famous Sunni scholar, more than ten Companions of the Prophet (s) have narrated traditions mentioning his prostration on a Khumrah. And he lists all the Sunni sources recording these traditions which include Sahih Muslim, Sahih al-Tirmidhi, Sunan Abu Dawud, Sunan al-Nasa'i and many others.

[Al-Shawkani, Nayl al-Awtar , Chapter of Prostration on the Khumrah, vol. 2, p. 128]

So what is a khumrah?
• a small mat sufficient just for the face and the hands while prostrating during prayers.

[Al-Bukhari, Sahih (English translation), vol. 1, book 8, no. 376 (as explained by the translator in paranthesis)]

Now the question is that why shia keep mohr made from the sand of karbala?

The Shi'ah prefer to prostrate on the earth of Karbala because of the importance given to it by the Prophet (s) and the Imams from his Family (Ahl al-Bayt). After the martyrdom of Imam Husayn (a), his son Imam Zayn al-'Abidin (a) picked some up, declared it to be sacred dust, and kept it in a bag. The Imams (a) used to perform prostrations on it and make a tasbih out of it, and recited Allah's praises on it.
[Ibn Shahr Ashub, al-Manaqib, vol. 2, p. 251]

They also encouraged the Shi'ah to perform prostrations on them, with the understanding that it was not compulsory, but with a view to achieving greater recompense. The Imams (a) insisted that prostration before Allah must be on clean earth only and that it was preferable if it was performed on that earth of Karbala.

[al-Tusi, Misbah al-Mutahajjad, p. 511]
[al-Saduq, Man la yahduruhu'l faqih, vol. 1, p. 174]

Do I need a wudhu for each salah?

No, there is no need of wudhu for each salah if your wudhu is valid so you can offer all your prayers even in a single wudhu if you are able to maintain your wudhu valid from Fajr up to maghrib and Isha Prayer but normally it's very difficult.

I want to go to Qum for islamic studies and this year my graduation in bachelor of commerce will be completed and i am also pursuing a higher chartered secretary course here in India. Some of my family members and friends are opposing my decision of studying in Qum and they are saying that I am shutting the door of success and money. They are saying that you have studied from a good school, graduating from university, pursuing higher degree course. If you leave like this your parents' money will be wasted, which they bear from starting just to let study in a good college and school. Please advice me what to do. Should I go to Qum or should I live here.

This is a good aim to go in Hawza for Islamic Studies but a person should check all his/her life's aspects to decide that is it better to go to Hawza for him/her or not? first of all, he should consult good persons and his well wishers in this regard because this path (going to hawza for Islamic studies) is really very hard and needs a lot of patience and a person has to give up many materialistic benefits to achieve this sacred goal.
Therefore a person should try to act as per his good knowledge first and try to be a good follower of Ahlulbayt (a.s.) rather than going to Hawza directly. and If he feels that there is a need of him/her for Islam to gain Islamic studies and spread it through out the community and he can bear all the difficulties in this way then he should decide to go otherwise he/she should try to seek Islamic knowledge through different sources as per need and try to act accordingly and spread it among people. There are a lot of sources to gain Islamic knowledge because now we have internet access. There are a few online courses for Islamic studies. Al-mustafa international University (Qom,Iran) also offers online course via its open (Virtual) University.

Are you Sunni or Shi’a? And what’s the difference?

I think it shouldn't be important for you whether we are sunni or shia, if you want to know about Islam because there is no difference between Sunni and Shia in basic and common beliefs of Islam. There is a main difference in the view of leadership which is called in Islamic term "Imamat and Khilafah"

I’m 16 and I’m and agnostic atheist from the United Kingdom. I want to learn about Islam, and I was wondering what the best way to do so would be?

I was wondering if soy or oyster sauce are halal? Sometimes I wish to make some food that contains these sauces for rich texture and taste but I'm worried it may have alcohol. What's the best way to know if it is alcohol free

The only doubt to have Alcohol doesn't put it in haram category of edibles but we should make sure that these type of sauces have Alcohol or not. It may have a little amount of Alcohol in some European countries but you should check the ingredients details to be sure and confirm or simply google it which may help you in this regard. Sometimes Alcohol word is not used but it's chemical or scientific name is used so check from all aspects to make sure but omly a doubt should be neglected.

What is the best way to ask a father for his daughters hand in marriage? Any specific way that Ahlulbayt have recommended? What shall one say to the father?

The best way is to find a mediator for this task and if it's not possible for you then ask him allusively at a private location, not in front of people except in the case when it is necessary to ask infront of others. Try to follow the norms of the society in this regard.

My friend needs to take a loan of Indian rupees 1 million for business purposes but he believes paying interest on bank loan is haram

What is the alternative halal solution to take loan from the bank?

If there is no way and option other than taking an interest based loan from a bank then he can take with the niyyat (intention) that I will not pay the interest on the loan until I'm compelled to pay it by the bank through the law and ruling of the country for example.
That means he should keep the intention in his heart not to pay the interest except that he is compelled to do it and he shouldn't pay the interest with pleasure and wish but due to compulsion.

I am single parent, husdand expired two years back. I have two daughters studying in school. My monthly salary is 10 k. There is no saving. My brother helps me monthly. Is khums and zakat wajib on my salary or on my savings. What about the amount of life insurance money of my husband do i have to pay khums on that amount ?

Zakat is not wajib on your salary but if you are saving any amount after one year on a specific date which you have assigned for yourself as a khums paying date, then after deduction of your expenses which are in the range of your social and financial status you have to pay khums meaning 20% of the saving amount or other savings like grains etc. The total of the 20% savings will be divided into two equal parts, one of them is sahm e Imam (a.j.) and to be given to any marja or his representative to collect the sahme Imam or any organization having permission from Marja to collect the sahm e Imam and the other part will be given to any needy sayyed.

If you have received insurance money, then after passing one year from the date of receiving, if the money is not spent in your necessary expenses then it has khums to be paid after one year.

If I am travelling to US from Aus for example on Saturday morning, zuhr of Saturday will occur while on plane. Now when I land in US it is still Saturday morning there and Zuhr of Sat will occur a second time for me. Now please guide me which Zuhr to pray and which one to leave or pray both? What will be the niyyat in both cases?

If you are travelling to US from Australia for example on Saturday morning and Zuhr of Sat occurs on the plane then you have to offer your zuhr prayer on the plane according to the rules of offering prayer on the plane but as far as I know that you can't reach to US from Aus in Saturday morning because the distance is 9437 miles and flight takes approx 16.85 hours to reach US from Aus and the time zone is -7:00 and +10:00 UTC for US and Aus accordingly. Suppose that now it is Sunday, March 16, 2014 at 9:00:00 am in Aus and Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 4:00:00 pm in US. Therefore when a person will move for US on Saturday from Aus then it'll be friday in US. as a conclusion the zuhr prayer will not be repeated.
Actually there is a general ruling that the same obligatory prayer shouldn't be repeated if offered at one place even if a person reaches by plane from a country to another country suppose if a person flies from Afghanistan in the morning and he has offered his fajr prayers either at Airport or in the plane and when he reaches to Pakistan for example there is now time remaining for fajr prayer; in this case he has no need to offer fajr prayer again.

I went through a word – Musahiqa in Mikyalul Makarim. Can you please explain me? Also the word Mutawatir

Musahiqa is the sin committed by Lesbians.

Mutawatir (مُتَواتِر meaning "successive") narration. A successive narration is one conveyed by narrators so numerous that it is not conceivable that they have agreed upon an untruth thus being accepted as unquestionable in its veracity. The number of narrators is unspecified.[22] A hadith is said to be mutawatir if it was reported by a significant, though unspecified, number of narrators at each level in the chain of narration, thus reaching the succeeding generation through multiple chains of narration leading back to its source. This provides confirmation that the hadith is authentically attributed to its source at a level above reasonable doubt. This is due to its being beyond historical possibility that narrators could have conspired to forge a narration. In contrast, an ahaad hadith is a narration the chain of which has not reached a number sufficient to qualify as mutawatir.

I had this class fellow who usually go into arguing with me regarding me being shia. Today he said rasool is not noor and is basher (nazubillah). Can you please explain me this in the light of Quran so I can answer him back?

In Surah Maedah, Verse no. 15 Allah says that A light (noor) and obvious book has come to you from Allah.
Ali ibn Ibrahim Qummi narrates that the light is Holy Prophet PBUH, Amirul momneen and Aimma.
Tafseer-e-Qummi, Vol. 1, P. 172

Also see: Tafseer e Qurtabi, Vol. 6. p. 117. In this Tafseer, one of the interpretations of the noor is given as Muhammad PBUH.
Note: This commentary on Quran is written by one of the famous Ahlu sunnat scholars and commentators.

You should ask your class fellow that what does the noor mean in this verse except our Holy Prophet PBUH?

If the sunrise is at 5:20 am for example, Is it the last time of kaza of namaz soubh? I can still do takbir a 5h19 for example? Or I have to finished at least 1 rakat before 5h20?

What is the fiqh law please?

Yes, the qaza time is the same as sunrise timing for Fajr Prayer. If you complete your first rakah and enter in the second rakah before Qaza timing then your namaz is considered 'Ada'.

Sometimes I cant control my thoughts like something really horrible or haram come in my mind accidentally and suddenly. Is it the wasswassa of shaytan? Is it considered as a gunnah?

Yes of course this is waswasa of Satan try to cut and discontinue it whenever these type of thoughts come in your mind but there is no sin just for your accidental thoughts untill you commit a sin practically, related to that bad thought. Recite 'La hawla wala quwwata illa billahil Aliyyil Azeem" whenever such thoughts come in your mind.

My nani’s family is ismaeli. We avoid to eat their food
But sometimes we failed and they forced us to eat what my anty cooked

She believes on Allah swt and Rassoul e Khuda and Imam Ali (as).
Sometimes she do namaz and fast. Is it okay to eat her food when we have no choice? She is considered as muslim right?

They are considered Muslims except in the case if they show openly their enmity for any one of the 14 infallibles so you can eat at their home freely until they are proved Nasibi (the open enemy of Ahlul-bayt a.s.)

I have just recently got married and day after our nikah I asked for divorce. Me and my husband started fighting everyday. We asked our local sheikh that to look what's happening between us and they said that is sihr between us. Someone has buried something in graveyard to seperate us. Now my husband doesn't recognize me or consider me his wife. Can you help me in this issue?

First of all, I ask you that how are you so much sure about 'Sehr' or the Shaikh who told you about it? `it may have another cause, maybe a misunderstanding or anything else. The first thing is that you should talk with your husband and try to find out the real cause and issue. You may take help of your elders in this regard.

But if all the efforts become unsuccessful and he is not ready to change his behavior then you can ask him to give you divorce but this is the last step and as you know better that divorce is the most unliked halaal act near Almighty Allah. So please avoid it as far as possible.

Although if there is no option except divorce then ask him for divorce. If he does not agree for simple divorce, ask him for a special type of divorce which is called in Islamic Term 'Khula.' In this type of talaq, when a woman doesn't like to continue her marital relationship with a man but the man wants to continue the relations, she offers him some amount to give divorce. The detailed Ahkam of Talaq-e-Khula are mentioned in Risala-e-Tauzeehul Masael.

After all if he is not agree at any condition then contact to you Marja or his representative in your area because they only have power to give onesided divorce from your side.

Kindly keep in your mind my Sister that this way is not recommended in Islam as far as other ways may be sought and applied and don't believe easily on these type of asuumptions that someone has done sehr against you. Even though as a precaution you should write this dua on a paper and always keep it with you. It's recommend by Hazrat Ali a.s. and mentioned in the famous book of dua and Amaal 'Mafateehul Jinan' of Shaikh Abbas Qummi.
Don't believe on just imaginations and illusions and don't be skeptic or obsessional untill you find a solid proof of sehr.

Is there anything that I can do to protect my family. My 2020 started with my beloved aunt’s passing, news of three close friends in the hospital, and financially we are struggling.

The best thing which is recommended by traditions of masoomeen a.s. is to give sadaqa and do isteghfaar as much as possible.

For resolution of financial problems there are a lot of supplications and Ama'al recommended by masoomeen and our Ulama and some of them are experienced by Ulama and a large number of momeneen. Like you can rectite this zikr after fajr 100 times "Ya Wahhabu" and you should recite 27 times verse no. 58 of Surah Zariyat إِنَّ اللَّـهَ هُوَ الرَّزَّاقُ ذُو الْقُوَّةِ الْمَتِينُ after Fajr prayer as well.

Is this Hadith is Authentic?

If yes, than please send me reference or jo uska book me sahi urdu tarjuma hai vo please dijyega.

Guarantee six things for me and I’ll guarantee paradise for you:
When you speak, don’t lie
When you’re entrusted, don’t betray
When you promise, keep it
Guard your eyes
Withhold your hands
Protect your chastity

The Arabic text of hadith is as following:

Please explain this hadith. What is Imam trying to say?

"Tribulation has been linked to love of this world." – #Imam_Ali (as)

In fact this world always demands efforts to reach a particular goal. A single bite of food doesn't go to the mouth without effort and trouble. Especially the person who loves this world more than hereafter, he has to bear always tribulation because he will never be content therefore tribulation is linked with the love of this world and that is inevitable. This is the meaning I understood but Allah knows better. Please always mention reference of Hadith so we can easily find the original text in Arabic for hadith and check the context to explain in a better way.
