You mention that taqlid is not based on personal suitability but based on taking the recommendations of senior scholars. Unfortunately, this does not make a lot of sense to me, because this is how I think about it:
If all the senior scholars agreed on who the most knowledgeable marj’a is, wouldn’t that marj’a be the only one people are allowed to follow? The fact that people are split into following different marj’as would insinuate that each scholar holds their own belief on who the most knowledgeable marj’a is and therefore there is the option of choosing.
Could you please clarify how I should follow a marj’a based on the senior scholars recommendation if the senior scholars themselves hold differing opinions?
